• The area was very rich in gold
• Early European traders and explorers called this area the 'Gold Coast'
• Area spon became center for slave trade
• Africans captured Africans and marched them to the coadt, where they were sold to Europenas
• The Adhanti received horses, guns, cloth, copper, bracelets, kettles, jugs ect.
