Atkinson and Shiffrin (1968) proposed a model of memory which is known as the multi-store model of memory
there are three separate stores in our memory system: the sensory register, short-term memory, and Long-term memory
the multi-store model
A) sensory memory
B) rehearsal
C) consolidation
D) forgotten
E) environment input
the information is passed through these stores in a linear sequence
linear- in one direction
Each of the memory stores differs in the way information is processed (encoding), how much information can be stored (capacity), and for how long (duration).
