Main Problems and Objectives

Cards (9)

  • Key Characteristics of a research problem:
1.) Clear and Concise: Easily Understandable
    2.) Specific: Well-defined and focused
3.) Relevant: Has significance to the study
4.) Feasible: can be investigated with available resources
    5.) Original: Offers new perspective
  • Research Problem - A gap you want to investigate, a starting point
  • Research Study - Entire investigation, journey to find the answer
  • Research Gap - A gap in the research that is not yet studied
  • Research Topic - Broad area of interest or focus. Usually Declarative
  • Research Question - A question you can ask to identify the Research Problem
  • Main Problem
    • acts as the summary of the study in a single sentence
    • also necessary in the formulation of Statement of the Problem (SOTP) for scientific research
  • Main Objective:
    • Describes what will be expected to achieve in the project
  • Main Objective helps to:
    • Define the focus of your study
    • Clearly identifies the variables to be measured
    • Indicates the various steps to be involved
    • Establish the limits of the study
    • Avoid collection of any data that is not strictly necessary
