  • What is an interdependent variable?
    The aspect of the experiment which is manipulated by the researcher
  • What is a dependant variable?
    The variable measured by the researcher
  • What is an extraneous variable?
    Variables other than the independent variable that have the potential to effect the dependant variable.
  • What are participant variables?
    An individual difference between the participants that may not have been controlled. e.g. age, personality, motivation.
  • What are situational variables?
    An aspect of the environment that may not have been controlled. e.g. noise or time of day.
  • What is a confounding variable?
    Variables which advantage or disadvantage one condition over the other if left uncontrolled. The weather could leave those who are exercising outside dissatisfied.
