  • Double circulatory system
Humans have a double circulatory system. Pulmonary circuit which pumps blood from the heart to the lungs and from the lungs back to the heart. Systematic system pumps blood from the heart through out the whole body then comes back to the heart as deoxygenated blood.
  • aorta
carries oxygenated blood to all parts of the body
  • superior vena cava
carries deoxygenated blood from upper body to the heart
  • right atrium
receives deoxygenated blood from superior vena cava and inferior vena cava
  • coronary artery
supplies oxygenated blood to the muscles of the heart
  • inferior vena cava
carries deoxygenated blood from the lower part of the body to the heart
  • pulmonary arteries
carries deoxygenated blood to the lungs
  • left atrium

  • coronary vein
deoxygenated blood from the heart muscle
  • pericardium
    membrane that encloses the heart
  • Bicuspid valve
Valve made up of the cusps, found between the right atrium and left ventricle
  • Detoxify
Remove poisonous substances usually in the blood
  • Diastole
Period of relaxation of the heart
  • Pulmonary veins
Carry blood away from the lungs
  • Seni-lunar valve
Half moon shaped valve found at the base of the aorta and pulmonary artery
  • Sub-clavian vein
Running underneath the clavicle, which is a key shaped bone
  • Systole
Period of contraction of the heart
  • Tricuspid valve
Valve made of three points found between the right ventricle and right atrium
