    prefer to obtain research that is objective and free from opinion meaning that they do not value personal accounts. They like to study society at macro level which means they value studying society at a larger scale. They tend to use quantitative methods like closed questionnaires so that it's more practical to compare and analayse
  • interpretivists
    prefer the subjective scale of obtaining research. they enjoy the use of qualitative data as means of obtaining information and therefore like to study society at a micro level. They stress the importance of the individual's view and the different values and behaviours of participants as a way of concluding findings relating to research. therefore they value qualitative research methods like open questionnaires
