  • Wakel river basin:
    • Is located in south of Rajasthan, in Southern Asia
    • An LIC
    • Has water insecurity, due to hot temperatures (over 50 °C), lack of rainfall (less than 250 mm), no management of wells (too much taken for aquifer) and over irrigation.
  • Taankas
    • Are an underground storage system which collects surface water from roofs.
    • 3 m in diameter and 3-4 m deep
    • Holds 20,000 L of water
  • Johads
    • Are small earth dams which collect rainwater.
    • Helps raise water by up to 6 m
    • 5 rivers which used to dry up don't anymore
  • Pats
    • A small dam, called a bund, diverts water from stream to fields.
    • Bunds are made from stones and lined with leaves to make them waterproof.
    • Stops over irrigation
