  • After 1924, working hours reduced and wages increased and working conditions improved
  • In 1924 hyperinflation still made employment insecure and well earning Germans did not like to see workers benefiting
  • For people who were unemployed or sick, a 3 percent tax from workers wages was taken to support them
  • In 1924, a 15 percent tax was introduced for rent to build new homes, and between 1925 and 1929, 101000 homes were built
  • There was still a shortage in housing after 1924, but this improved overtime
  • In 1918, women were given the right to vote and could stand for elections
  • Article 109 stated that women had equal rights to men and could both enter the same job. It also ensured marriage was an equal partnership
  • Women were allowed to have more independence and instead of marriage, were more interested in having a 'good time'. Some men and women disliked this as they believed it eroded traditional values
  • Although womens rights increased, women still faced discrimination and the number of women working eventually went back down to pre-war levels
