renewable and non-renewable resources

• renewable resources are resources that will never run out as long as the rate of extraction of the resource is less than the natural rate at which the resource renews itself
• non-renewable resources are resources that can not be renewed and will eventually run out, such as fossil fuels
• a sustainable resource is a resource that meets the needs of today without compromising the meeting of the needs of future generations,
• renewable resources are more expensive than non-renewable resources and produce less energy per unit of input, meaning they are less productive
