  • AC Bradley describes “long and short time” in the play. An example of a long time is between scenes 3 and 4 of Act III, where Bianca complains Cassio has been away for a week, increasing the plausibility of Othello’s jealousy. An example of short time is the claustrophobia created in the first act taking place in one night.
  • Most of the plot occurs at night, like the deaths of Emilia and Roderigo, and is associated with Iago’s evil, making it appropriate that he is exposed at night. However, because so much of it occurs at night, it is inevitable that evil will triumph over goodness.
