Soil erosion and degredation

• Deforestation leads to wind and water erosion
• Without plant roots to bind the soil, valuable topsoil nutrients is washed or blown away
• Removal of trees depletes the level of nutrients in the soil as plants are a constant source of nutrients in their environment
• Soil is degraded and becomes of little use
