  • high costs - cost of using significant technology and upgrading systems can be both initially expensive and add to firms cost - IT departments are needed to ensure the technology remains operational
  • staff and training - staff will need to be trained in using new technology for it to be effective - staff may also be resistant to any changes that increase workload or potentially put their job at risk of redundancy - equipment such as laptops, desks and broadband would have to be provided if staff are to WFH
  • GDPR - new regulations surrounding Consumer data means firms must invest in significant online antivirus and malware software - fines and investigations for data breaches have a higher penalty to firms under GDPR rules
