• communication - the transfer of information from one person to another
• the main purpose being the understanding by the receiver of the sender's message
• internal communication - between two or more people within a business
• upward communication - from lower levels up to higher levels
• downward communication - higher levels to lower levels
• horizontal communication - between people at the same level
• external communication - between a business and those outside the business such as banks, suppliers and public governement
