Bile

• Canaliculi are channels running through lobules between hepatocytes; they collect bile, which is synthesised in hepatocytes from bile salts and pigments (haemoglobin breakdown products)
• Bile drains into bile ductules, into bile ducts, and transports to gallbladder for storage, bile flows in opposite direction to blood; blood flows inwards towards the center of lobule and bile flows outwards towards edge
