Control of Blood Plasma Glucose Concentration

Cards (2)

  • Hepatocytes have receptors for hormones insulin, glucagon and adrenaline on their plasma membranes, so therefore respond to hormones and are involved in controlling blood plasma glucose concentrations
  • Insulin makes liver cells synthesise glycogen from glucose (glycogenesis); glucagon and adrenaline make liver cells breakdown glycogen to glucose (glycogenolysis)
