  • what was Brunner's understanding of the fall?

he acknowledged the devastating effects of sin but believed some remnants of divine image remained intact in humans after the Fall, allowing for partial knowledge of God through nature and conscience. Sin obscured our knowledge of God, it did not completely destroy the possibility of knowing Him through general revelation.
  • what was Barth's understand of the fall?

sin has so thoroughly corrupted human reason and perception that humans are completely blind to God's truth apart from special revelation. Any supposed knowledge of God gained through natural theology is ultimately a result of human pride or idolatry.
