Selective Reabsorption

• Total glomerular filtrate formation rate in humans, is ~170-180 dm3 a day, and yet total urine volume produced is only 1.5-2.0 dm3 a day; so most glomerular filtrate is reabsorbed as it passes through renal tubules
• Goes from filtrate in PCT to blood plasma in Vasa recti capillaries, main molecules selectively re-absorbed: All glucose, amino acids, 80-85% of water, some ions and little urea
