MEASURING WAVES

Cards (1)

  • -Adjust the bar so it touches the surface of the water
-adjust the motor to produce low frequency wave
-adjust the lamp until the pattern is seen clearly on the card underneath.
-take a picture with a camera with a ruler in shot and count the distance between 10 waves
-divide the length of the number of waves to give the wavelength
-record a video with a stopwatch in shot and count the number of waves passing in a second
-divide the number of waves counted by 10 to get the frequency
use the equation wave speed = frequency times wavelength
