  Translation

  • mRNA binds to ribosome
  • Anticodon of tRNA binds to start codon of mRNA by complementary base pairing
  • A specific amino acid is bonded to each tRNA molecule
  • The amino acids in the chain are held together by peptide bonds
  • The tRNA molecule leaves
  • Once the stop codon is reached, the mRNA, ribosome+ protein detach
  • Protein folds into a functional protein
