  • The Elizabethan Era was a golden age for a multitude of reasons, before Elizabeth there had been no permanent theatres. In 1576 the Globe was built which housed many of Shakespeare's plays. The tickets were cheap which meant that everyone could go, so finally the poor and rich were able to mix. It also caused the literacy rate to increase from 5% to 20%.
  • Books were used as tools to flatter Elizabeth such as the Faerie Queen which had a female heroine by Edmund Spencer. Elizabeth would reward authors whos books she liked.
