  • Statistics show there is a higher level of crime amongst certain ethnic groups, particularly black (Afro-Caribbean) and Asian

    • 5x more likely to be in prison
    • More likely (if found guilty) to receive a prison sentence
    • More likely (if arrested) to be charged, remanded in custody and face court proceedings, than to receive a caution

    • Receive a prison sentence if found guilty
  • Evidence on taser use: 
    Black people are 3x more likely to have a taser used against them than white people. 
    Between 2010 - 2015, more than 12% of the 36,000 cases - the person against whom tasers were used was of black of mixed ethnicity - black people make up 4% of the population.
