  • Arafat and Yitzhak Rabin, new “moderate” Israeli PM, Arafat denounced terrorism again, called for end of Intifada and recognised Israel and Rabin recognised PLO as official representatives of Palestinians
  • Agreed to set up a Palestinian Authority in Gaza and West Bank, partial Israeli military withdrawal from them, and negotiate full settlement over 5 years; they publicly shook hands in Washington

  • Elections for Palestinian Authority to finally be held, further Israeli military withdrawals, and release of PLO prisoners
