• What is an identity war?

  Identity wars can arise when people see themselves as belonging to, or identifying with, an exclusive group of people or when people feel threatened by/superior to another group.

  A groups identity does not need to be defined by national borders, it can be based on ethnicity, culture or religion.

  Often one group tries to use power over others, or make other groups feel threatened.
