  • Social inequality occurs when resources in each society are distributed unevenly, typically through norms of allocation, that engender specific patterns along lines of socially defined categories of persons.
  • Equality is about making sure that everyone has an equal opportunity to make the most of their desire to live.

    The Philippines has finally enacted gender equality legislation after years of lobbying form female rights campaigners. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed the country’s Magna Carta of Women in outlining approaches to eliminate it. August 18, 2009.
  • The factors that contribute to social inequality consists of educational attainment, wealth and poverty, power, and Gender Inequality which lead to social inequality between individuals and groups of people.
  • Power – People with greater political, economic, and social power often have more influence over others and can use this power to maintain their position at the expense of less powerful individuals.
  • Wealth and Poverty – Wealthy families often pass down their wealth from generation to generation, while poorer families may not have access to the same opportunities due to lack of financial resources.
  • Educational Attainment - The level of education one receives can determine how much money they will earn throughout their lifetime. Those who have higher levels of education tend to earn more than those with lower levels of education.
  • Gender Inequality - The term refers to differences in opportunities, treatment, and outcomes based on one's sex or gender identity
