The Nervous System

Subdecks (2)

Cards (28)

  • What is an effector?

Organ that brings about response (has an effect)
  • Neurones have special feautres
    • Myelin sheath - prevents cross talk which could result in incorrect impulses being generated.
    • Insulation helps electrical impulses to pass along in hops so signals travel along the neurone faster
  • CNS - brain and spinal cord coordinates responses
  • Peripheral N.S - nerves- connecting the brain to different parts of the body + sense organs changes in environment - detected by sense organs which have specialised cells that detect environmental changes/ stimulus - called receptors. Receptors- pass on signals
  • Brain- all signals around body are coordinated
  • Effectors
    carry out response
