Lactic acid fermentation

• The end product of lactic acid fermentation is lactic acid
• Glucose -- 2 lactic acids + small amount of energy
• Lactic acid fermentation can occur during strenuous exercise if muscles do not receive the oxygen the need
• if lactic acid forms this causes cramp and a person to build up oxygen debt
• This dept must be paid, usually by the person breathing deeply and rapidly for a few minutes
• lactic acid is eventually taken to the liver where it gets broken down
