Todorov states that a story follows a
3 part narrative structure
The structure begins with an
equilibrium
Equilibrium
means everything is
balanced
and
normal.
There are no
problems
in the story
After the
equilibrium
there is a
disruption.
Something bad happens and the
hero
has to go on a
quest
to sort it out.
The
third
part of his structure is at the
end
of the
narrative.
Where the
disruption
is
solved
and we go back to a new
equilibrium
New
equilibrium- everything
goes
back
to
normal
Some
media
products challenge the
narrative structure.
They might open up with a
distruption.
Some media products might end with a
disruption
instead of a
new equilibrium
so they watch the next movie in the series seeking for a
new equilibrium.
