  • Glenny 2008 - McMafia: The Breakup of the USSR bred chaos and instability leading these oligarchs to buy protection from Russian mafia organisations (most notable being the Chechan Mafia). Russian mafias worked as purely economic organisations and the brand of Chechen mafia was franchised and given to other organisations across the USSR.
