• Classical music (1750-1820) - The classical era, also called “Age of Reason”
• Opera Seria - Serious opera inspired and adapted from the baroque period.
• Opera Buffa - Referred to as comic opera created and composed to depict common people with common problems or concerns.
• Sonata - Came from the word sonare which means “to make sound
• Allegro – fast movement
• Adagio – slow movement
• Rondo – the main theme which is heard several times between other themes
• Exposition – the first par of a composition in sonata form that introduces the theme
• Development – the middle part where themes are being developed.
• Recapitulation – the composer settles back to the home key and represents the original themes
• Symphony - It is derived from the word sinfonia which literally means “a harmonious sounding together”
• Concerto - It is composed of multi-movement work and it is made for an instrument soloist and orchestra
