Linear motion is movement of a body in a straight or curved line, where all parts are moving the same distance , in the same direction over the same time. = Newtons 1st law eg. 100m sprint/swimmer
Angular motion is the movement of a body or body part in a circular path about an axis of rotation. = Newtons 1st Law
e.g Shoulder during cricket bowl , hip joint during kicking a football.
General motion is a combination of linear and angular motion. Its the most common type of motion in sport. eg - swimming , running
General motion eg - running
The trunk moves in linear motion (straight line) as a result of other body parts (arms and legs) moving in angular motion at the shoulder and hip joint .
Linear motion is caused by direct force (in objects centre of mass)
Angular motion is caused by an eccentric force (outside of the centre of mass)
