  • RESPONSE
    Imprisonment keeps offenders off the streets, provides jobs, and is hopefully reformative. If this is the case it seems to satisfy the GHP as most people will be satisfied that they are protected and justice is being done.
  • ANALYSIS
    Consequence as imprisonment may not always be reformative. Brutal circumstances in certain prisons may prevent reformation as captivated prisoners may be subject to inhumane treatment, causing them to be prone to reoffending. Also, if people in the prison are being mistreated, then surely the majority of prisoners will be upset, contradicting the expected GHP.
