Evidence of Chivalry thesis: Ministry of justice say 49% of women offending received a caution in (2007) compared to 30% of males.
Heidensohn: Found that women have less opportunities to commit crime because they are controlled by men in the public and private sphere.
Heidensohn: Found that women are treated harsher by the law because they break the law and their gender stereotype.
Walklate: In S.A cases it is up to the victim to prove their respectability and not the offender.
Lombroso: Women commit less crime because of their biology.
Parson's Sex Role theory: Men engage in crime to distance themselve from femininity.
Parsons makes assumptions based on gender stereotypes which are becoming increasingly less important with the introduction of feminism.
Carlen: (Gender Deal): I women conform to their gender roles they would receive emotional support. (Class Deal): If women engage in paid work they gain material things. When women cant get this legitimately they turn to crime.
