  • discovery learning: for a child to fully understand something they should discover it for themselves. children need to be active in their learning. teachers should provide suitable materials for discovery learning, ask questions and challenge their students.
  • individual learning: children progress through the stages at different rates, some develop faster whilst some develop slower. teachers should plan activities for individuals and groups rather than everyone doing the same task. for those who advance quicker, they will need more challenging activities. for those who advance slower, they will need their work adapted to make it a little easier.
