  • Muscle: a tissue that contracts and relaxes to produce movement and force
  • Bone: a hard, compact,living tissue that forms the framework of the body.
  • Ligaments attaches one bone to another

  • Cartilage: reduces friction and absorbs shock in joints allowing smooth movement of joint
  • Synovial capsule: secretes synovial fluid that lubricates the joint to mantain stability.

  • Muscles have to work together to move a bone or joint. They can only pull when contracting not push.
  • Antagonist pairs are muscles that work opposite. When one contracts movement happens while the other relaxes.
  • Examples of antagonist pairs: biceps relax when quadriceps contract.
