  mRNA serves as a messenger that copies down DNA information and delivers it to the ribosomes so that it can make proteins
• Transcription: copying DNA to another form (RNA)
• Central Dogma: DNA makes RNA, RNA makes proteins (DNA codes for proteins)
• The 2 steps of protein synthesis are transcription and translation
• A strand of RNA can be transcribed from a section of DNA called a gene
• Transcription occurs in the nucleus, Translation occurs in the cytoplasm
