  • Malware is software that is specifically designed to disrupt, damage or harm a computer system or the people using it. 
  • Often and mainly, viruses are spread through emails. However, for viruses to be activated they require user action e.g. opening an attachment, visiting sites, for them to spread.
  • Viruses spread between computers, causing damage to software and data. They aim to disrupt systems, cause operational issues and result in data leakage or loss.
  • Spyware enters the computer/system, gathers data from the device and user then shares it to third parties without consent.
  • Trojan misleads users by disguising itself as a normal program. It is often spread by social engineering.
  • Types of malware: ransomware, spyware, adware, viruses, botnets, trojans and worms.
