Cyber security is the protection of computer systems and networks from malicious attacks. The aim is to reduce the risk of the attacks that either: access, change, or destroy sensitive information.
Removable media – data storage devices that are designed so they can be inserted and removed from a system easily, while the system runs.
Pharming – type of cyber-attack that aims to redirect users to a fake website with malicious programming in order to gain personal information: passwords, account numbers.
DNS (Domain Name Service/System) – it turns domain names into IP addresses, which browsers use to load internet pages. This allows browsers to get websites and internet resources.
Weak and default passwords -> They are easy to guess which makes it easy for hackers to access systems and devices. Weak password can be exploited using brute-force and dictionary attacks. Ultimately, this all leads to data breaches, unauthorized control and other problems.
Misconfigured access rights -> This is when accounts have incorrect permissions and is a problem because it gives more people access to private information they shouldn’t have. Data can be wrongly accessed or accidentally exposed.
Unpatched/ Outdated software -> Means that systems may have known vulnerabilities that haven’t been fixed with updates and patches. These can be exploited and targeted by hackers and can lead to the compromise of the affected system.
