When handling food, personal hygiene is of the upmost importance, and foodhandlers have a responsibility to maintain good hygiene. They can do this by keeping nails short, not wearing false nails, regular, thorough handwashing, removing jewellery, not wearing outdoor clothing in the kitchen, wearing the correct uniform, not using perfume or aftershave, wearing waterproof, brightly coloured plasters, wiping surfaces regularly and cleaning up as you go.
