  • supraspinatus origin: supraspinous fossa (above spine of scap, squishy)
  • supraspinatus insertion: greater tubercle (12 o'clock)
  • infraspinatus insertion: greater tubercle (3 o'clock)
  • teres minor insertion: greater tubercle (4 o'clock, in deeper + smaller)
  • teres minor origin: inferior angle/axillary border
  • we test pec major by having pt resist horizontal rotation (have pt feel for this one)
  • we test latissimus dorsi by having pt resist shoulder flexion (kind of behind/in armpit)(muscle should be tense)
  • trapezius (upper)= occipital protuberance to acromion process (anything in the triangle)
  • we test trapezius (upper) by having pt resist shrugging shoulders (grab upper trap)
  • trapezius (middle) = between the scapulas
  • trapezius (lower) = T12 vertebrae
  • to test trapezius (middle) have pt resist retraction (pull shoulder blades together + resist)
  • to test trapezius (lower) have pt squeeze shoulder blades together and down (at the same time)
  • sternocleidomastoid origin: s-c joint
  • sternocleidomastoid insertion: mastoid process
  • to test sternocleidomastoid have pt turn neck as hard as they can (turn left, feeling right one)
  • triceps are horseshoe shaped and on the posterior side. includes long head, medial head, and lateral head
