This concerns behaviour that is different from the agreed on and accepted standards of behaviour in a community or society. Social norms may be different for each generation, culture and society we live in, so there are relatively few behaviours that would be considered universally abnormal.
Deviation from Social Norms example
A person with psychopathy is impulsive, aggressive and irresponsible. According to the manual used by psychiatrists to diagnose mental disorders, one symptom of APD is an absence of prosocial internal standards associated with failure to conform to lawful and culturally normative ethical behaviour. We make the judgement that psychopaths are abnormal; they don’t conform to our moral standards. Psychopathic behaviours would be considered abnormal in a wide range of cultures.
