Constructive Wave Interference

Cards (5)

  • Constructive interference is when the two waves come together, and their crests and troughs match up.
  • Constructive wave interference results in a greater amplitude of the crest and trough
  • e.g. Two speakers emitting the same sound, it sounds louder than a single speaker
  • e.g. A water wave is reflected off a barrier meeting up with an incoming wave making the crest higher
  • The amplitudes are added together, and is increased
