  • Disaster - any event that cause widespread human, economic, and environmental losses that seriously disrupt the normal functioning of a community.
  • Hazard- a threat or harm that has the potential to cause damage.
  • disaster risk - may be specific to a location or condition of a community.
  • TYPES OF DISASTERS:
    Natural Disaster- devastating outcomes that from result from natural hazards
    Man-made Disaster- also called Technological Disasters, are distraction from man-made Hazard
  • Effects of Disasters- mostly depending on the severity of the effects of a disaster is higher in the community directly affected by the hazard.
  • EFFECTS OF DISASTER:
    Primary effects- direct situation arising from the disaster it self
    Secondary effects- are situation resulting from the primary effects
    Tertiary effects- those that are experienced as disaster is taking place that can be felt sometimes after the disaster has occur.
