Power of Uniform

• Bickman investigated the power of uniform in a field experiment in New York. He used 3 male actors: a milkman, a security guard and one in ordinary clothes. They asked members of the public one of three instructions: pick up a bag, give someone money for parking and stand by a bus stop sign saying “no standing“. People were more likely to follow orders from people in uniform showing their authority figure.
