Osmosis and Diffusion

• Diffusion- The movement of molecules from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration
• A higher temperature means faster rate of diffusion
• Cell membrane can let small molecules such as glucose and oxygen in through diffusion.
• Osmosis- The movement of water molecules from a region of high water concentration to a region of low water concentration through a partially permeable membrane.
• A partially permeable membrane is a membrane is very small holes in it, allowing some substances to pass through it.
