  For:

  • Retribution - "An eye for an eye" - Christianity. Murderers should have revenge taken on them
  • Deterrent - It will put people off from committing crimes, lowering crime rates like in Saudi Arabia
  • Protection - This is the only way to protect society from criminals

  Against:

  • Sanctity of Life - Islam & Christianity. All life is sacred and people should be given a chance to reform
  • Innocents killed - Innocent people can be killed
  • Inhumane to put anyone through the mental torture of death row
