    • Guerilla warfare was used by Koreans, surprise attacks and regular civilians were attacking. Neither side knew how the other fought and so it was hard to gain any ground

    • US gained a lot of respect for 'saving' south korea
    • US spent billions of dollars on the war
    • UN gained lots of respect for quick action
    • USSR returned to UN after war
    • People believed UN was a puppet for the USA
    • China and USSR gained a much closer relationship
    • USSR and USA entered an arms race due to tension
    • China proved themselves as a world military power
    • China spent a lot of money
    • 200,000 south korean soldiers died
    • 1 million civilians from the south killed
    • 400,000 north korean soldiers died
    • 600,000 north korean civilians killed
    • Both Koreas left in ruin
    • North Korea helped to recover by the USSR
    • South Korea given aid by the USA
    • 36500 US troops died in Korea
    • USA spent 20-30 billion (340 billion today)
    • US dropped 635000 tonnes of bombs
    • 1000 british comonwealth troops died
