Reflex Arc

• Reflex - action performed without conscious thought, in response to a particular stimulus
• Reflex Arc - neural pathway that controls a reflex action
• During a Reflex, the info from the stimulus is carried from the receptor to an effector without involving the brain
• Reflexes still involve sensory, inter and motor neurons
• Reflexes are Involuntary and Instantaneous
• 1. Receptors Detect Stimulus
  2. Nerve impulse is carried via sensory neuron to interneuron
  3. Interneuron communicates with motor neuron
  4. Motor Neuron carries nerve impulse to effector
