schizophrenia
- A mental disorder characterized by delusions, hallucinations, disorganized thoughts, speech and behavior.
*lasts longer than 6 months
Schizotypal disorder
marked by "acute discomfort with", and "reduced capacity for, close relationships"
has cognitive or perceptual distortions and eccentricities of behavior
"beginning by early adulthood" and present in a variety of contexts
brief psychotic disorder
Presence of one (or more) of the following symptoms AT LEAST 1 DAY BUT LESS THAN 1 MONTH. At least one of these must be 1, 2, or 3:
Delusions.
Hallucinations.
Disorganized speech (e.g., frequent derailment or incoherence).
Grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior.
schizophreniform disorder
Presence of two (or more) of the following symptoms at least 1 month. At least one of these must be 1, 2, or 3:
Delusions.
Hallucinations.
Disorganized speech (e.g., frequent derailment or incoherence).
Grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior.
Negative Symptoms
schizoaffective disorder
mood symptoms occur alongside psychotic symptoms, such as hallucinations or delusions.
essentially, a blend of mood disorder and schizophrenia elements, while schizophrenia predominantly focuses on psychotic symptoms.
