Strategic superiority

• Each sides wanted weapon system tha would give them an advantage over the other side
• This strategie meant the development of new and more powerful weapons
• This strategie meant trying to build up more of each type of weapon that the other side would possesse , e.g. when the USSR launch Sputnik the American expert calculated ( wrongly ) that the USSR would have more weapon that the USA nad that teh USA would experience a missile gaps , therefor , the USSR poured its money in rocket research
• It meant that each side wanted to have more weapon that the othe rside , to not suffer a missile gap or any other type of gap
