  • What did the National assembly do?
    The National Assembly was formed by the peasants (third estate) and their allies in an attempt to put pressure on King Louis and make France more democratic- they became the new French Government in 1790.
  • Why did the Committee of Public Safety begin The Terror?
    The Committee was set up to defend the Revolution by purging its enemies bit it encouraged increasing levels of violence and eventually its leaders were executed.
